Abstract:
Islamist
politics, or political islam, has been one of the most dynamics political
forces in the Middle East for over three decades. Whether in the form of
electoral politics in the region or in the form of cataclysmic events such as
the 1979 Iranian revolution and the September 11, 2001 attacks, political
islam has directly shaped both local and global politics in far-reaching
ways. Consequently, it has had a tremendous impact on region as well as
international affairs.
